Originating in 1994 on NBC, the Emmy award winning drama “ER” took audiences into the exasperating and complicated world of medicine. This profound series which was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton, who wrote the original book from which the series was based, was a milestone at the time of release that would forever leave an impact on television. Launching the careers of George Clooney, Eriq La Salle, Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle and Julianna Margulies, to name a few, “ER” went on to be one of the longer running television series lasting fifthteen seasons.
On the thirteenth season of this acclaimed series, audiences take part in a succession of episodes filled with heartache and hope. Starting the season off are several key episodes including “Bloodline,” “Graduation Day” and “Parenthood.” These episodes ultimately establish the vanguard of the seasons and ultimately the seasons own individuality that is both intense and expectant. “ER” has always been one of those programs that were always different in terms of storytelling and direction. Season Thirteen contains many great episodes which help showcases its distinctiveness that is for certain, but in all fairness it’s hard for audiences to fully be aware of this unless they were in fact followers of the show since the very beginning.
As a whole the Thirteenth season DVD is very compelling entertainment that’ll engage audiences from its season premiere to its season finale. On the other hand, and as I already referenced, unless those watching the Thirteenth Season DVD were in fact followers since the very beginning then the series just won’t have the same impinge. Personally I at times found myself finding it difficult to follow and I had some upper advantage having watched the series all the way up to its tenth season. I can only imagine someone having never watched the series would perceive the tenth season DVD.
Clearly designed and catering to fans and obvious followers of the series the Thirteenth season of “ER” on DVD is worth taking a look at for those audiences seeking an escape to great entertainment that’s heartening and deep. As an added bonus this season’s catalog of episodes features some fantastic cameos from such known actors as Stanley Tucci, Busy Philipps, Sara Gilbert and Kip Pardue. Granted these names would poise some interest from audiences its not enough to entice audiences to want to see this DVD.
