Expanding his credibility beyond the hugely successful “Twilight” franchise, Robert Pattinson brings audiences the New York City melodrama “Remember Me.” An emotional story of sentiment and personal progression “Remember Me” follows NYC college student Tyler Hawkins (Robert Pattinson), a emotionally lost young man searching for a relationship with his business minded father (Pierce Brosnan) but also finding true love. After meeting and falling in love with the beautiful Ally (Emilie de Ravin) Tyler believes he has found infinite love but soon his relationship with Ally becomes somewhat impenetrable after it is revealed she is the daughter of a NYC police officer with whom Tyler had a previous run-in.

One of those few films that will leave the theater with audiences once it has concluded “Remember Me” is a truly fixating piece of drama that showcases gallantry both in artistry but also in implementation. Directing from a script by screenwriting newcomer Will Fetter, director Allen Coulter, who previously helmed the 2006 drama “Hollywoodland,” crafted quite a tremendous piece of work that showcases human tragedy and progression in a manner that is commendably transverse but also captivating. From a personal standpoint “Remember Me” has a lot to proffer audiences in terms of valid entertainment (i.e. acting, direction, cinematography, etc.) but, most rewarding would be the films conclusion which is rather audacious considering its divisive temperament.

Without giving too much away, because quite frankly if I did, the film would be insolvent, “Remember Me” showcases to audiences an finale that is so unexpected that audiences will unarguably never expect it. Ok, so I might be going on and on about the ending but, “Remember Me” is a truly signature piece of cinema, and perhaps one of 2010’s better released films. The films exclusive individuality is truly surreal and personal which further advances it as one film that will truly showcase to audiences the valor of Robert Pattinson in terms of his acting and selection of roles.

Based on the romantic endeavor explored in “Remember Me” I personally find this New York City romance to be one of the better produced and one that echoes something truly incomparable. If anything I would best compare “Remember Me” to something that the likes of Woody Allen or Martin Scorsese might direct in terms of giving the city setting a life that is both enriching and evocative.
